ST. CATHARINES, ON, June 27 /CNW/ - Norgen Biotek Corp, an innovative
Canadian biotechnology company focusing principally on advancing powerful
innovations for nucleic acid and protein purification, today announced the
expansion of the ProteoSpin(TM) line of products by launching three additional
kits: the Urine Protein Concentration Kit, the Serum Albumin Depletion Kit,
and the On-column Proteolytic Digestion Kit. These are now currently available
under the ProteoSpin(TM) line of products.
The ProteoSpin(TM) Urine Protein Concentration Kit provides a fast,
reliable and simple procedure for concentrating urine proteins 20-fold in a
few minutes. The simultaneous concentration and desalting of urinary proteins
make the kit a convenient tool for preparing urine proteins before running
downstream proteomic applications including whole protein mass spectrometry
and protein microarrays. Urine protein analysis can be used for the
identification of potential biomarkers in urine, and to diagnose and/or
monitor renal and other diseases.
The ProteoSpin(TM) Serum Albumin Depletion Kit provides a fast, simple
and inexpensive procedure for the effective depletion of major serum proteins
including albumin, and alpha-antitrypisn, from serum and plasma samples. The
kit is unique in that it is not based on specific antibodies, therefore it can
be used to deplete albumin from different animal sources. The kit allows for
the complexity of the serum sample to be greatly reduced, allowing for the
detection of less abundant proteins present in the sample.
The ProteoSpin(TM) On-Column Proteolytic Digestion Kit is available in
spin-column format or 96-well plate format for high throughput. These kits
provide a fast and simple procedure for the generation of purified peptides by
combining trypsin digestion with peptide purification in a single device. The
kit is highly efficient in the enzymatic digestion of both simple and complex
protein samples using trypsin, and the subsequent purification of the
resulting peptides. The kits have been tested on complex samples such as
urine, and provide an efficient procedure to investigate peptide profiling
using mass spectroscopy.
