Overview
Grapevine Red Blotch-Associated Virus (GRBaV) TaqMan PCR Detection Kits
Detection kits for the Grapevine Red Blotch-Associated Virus
Available in TaqMan format for analysis
Grapevine red blotch-associated virus (GRBaV) is a major threat to the wine industry. GRBaV infections compromise crop yield, and cause a significant reduction in sugar, uneven ripening, or failure to ripen, resulting in off flavors and berry chemical composition, which affects the flavor and aroma properties of must and wine. Visual diagnosis is often unreliable due to several confounding abiotic and biotic factors, including similarities with leafroll disease symptoms. To date, no antibody based detection methods for GRBV are available on the market. Therefore, PCR-based assays are recommended for the accurate diagnosis of GRBV infection.

Figure 1. Grape leaf, petiole and cane samples from known Grapevine red blotch-associated virus (GRBaV) infected vines were processed by Norgens Plant DNA Isolation Kit for GRBaV detection. The real-time PCR result (A) indicates a successful GRBaV detection from all different grape sample types and PCR internal control (B) indicates the high quality of DNA isolated that shows no PCR inhibition.
Storage Conditions and Product Stability
All kit components can be stored for 2 years after the date of production without showing any reduction in performance.
All kit components should be stored at -20°C upon arrival. Repeated thawing and freezing (> 2 x) of the Master Mix and Positive Control should be avoided, as this may affect the performance of the assay. If the reagents are to be used only intermittently, they should be frozen in aliquots.
